The mission of the Department of Food Engineering at Yeditepe University is to train food engineers who know the food system, can apply the technologies necessary for the healthy and safe production, processing and preservation of food in the light of the scientific education they receive, follow and contribute to developments in science and technology with a focus on sustainability and innovation, and have professional and ethical responsibility.

Yeditepe University Department of Food Engineering strives to provide students with expertise not only in the field of engineering, but also in areas such as food safety, health and nutrition, gastronomy and culinary arts, entrepreneurship, and business with a transdisciplinary approach. In this context, concentration programs are created in different fields. These concentration programs include the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and the Department of Business Administration. The advanced laboratory infrastructure of the world's best universities is available at Yeditepe University Department of Food Engineering. When selecting faculty members in the Department of Food Engineering, care is taken to ensure that their postgraduate education is from a prestigious school abroad. Relations with the food industry are not only within the scope of projects. The sector, which is one of the department's areas of interest, takes place in one-to-one lessons. Particularly in design courses, in the applied areas, a worker from the sector comes every week. Apart from this, factory visits by students are also very common in the department. Within the scope of the courses, visits are made to the leading companies in the food industry and students are provided to see the production facilities. In Yeditepe University Food Engineering, it is aimed to provide students with a new profession that includes different fields such as innovation, digitalization and sustainability in addition to the classical food engineering education from the past with a more interdisciplinary approach. Food engineers can find jobs in a wide variety of places including factories, restaurants, catering companies, offices and laboratories, work in the units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, or continue their professional careers as lecturers by completing a master's degree. In this context, Yeditepe University Department of Food Engineering aims to eliminate the deviations from the standard between the education programs of the elite universities of the European Union. In this way, students continue their educational activities in a more informed and equipped manner.

Erasmus Department Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Lecturer Prof. Dr. Özge Taştan
Students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.20 and above, who have completed at least one academic semester at Yeditepe University and will continue at Yeditepe University for at least one more semester in order to graduate upon their return, may apply to continue their education abroad for one semester through Erasmus or exchange programs.
Erasmus agreements are made between departments. Exchange agreements are university-wide and are limited to quotas announced by the international office. You can get information about the schools we have agreements with from the department Erasmus/Exchange coordinator. Application dates for each semester are announced by the International Office and announced in our department. Students who will apply must have an e-mail address with Yeditepe extension. Applications are made online. You need to submit the printout of the form you created in the system to the Erasmus/Exchange Coordinator of your department together with 1 photo, a copy of your ID and your transcript.
Shortly after your application, you will be required to take a language test. The date of the exam is announced by the International Office. Students who score at least 60 points in the language exam will take an oral exam on a date determined by the department Erasmus/Exchange coordinator. Your status is determined according to your success score and the quota for the school you want to attend. Following this, you can find all the forms you need to fill out and the procedures you need to do on the international office's page.
The financial status of the student who goes abroad for a semester with any exchange program continues at the University. Erasmus students are also provided with some financial support under the name of grant. The amount of this is announced by the International Office. Students can waive financial support if they wish.

Within the scope of FDE 400, it is aimed to prepare students for working life before graduation, to gain knowledge about engineering applications; to observe the connection between theoretical knowledge and applications in the sector and to gain experience.
