Yeditepe University Faculty of Engineering, which started its educational activities in 1996, the year of the establishment of our university, is a well-established and strong faculty consisting of 10 departments with more than 3000 active students. Our faculty consists of Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Genetics and Bioengineering, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering departments. The thousands of graduates of our faculty are preferred in many reputable national and international institutions and represent the competence of our University.
In the first two years of our departments, emphasis is placed on infrastructure courses, which are indispensable for engineering education. This infrastructure, consisting of basic sciences and basic engineering courses, forms the backbone of the department curriculum by integrating with branch courses in the upper grades. In all programs, there are also elective courses and social sciences courses for specialization in line with the student's desire for education, talent and personal development. Students who show academic success are offered the opportunity to do "Double Major" with other departments of our faculty and to benefit from "Minor" programs throughout the university. These programs, which create an important privilege and opportunity priority in the academic world as well as in the business world, attract the attention of students and are widely carried out.
Our faculty continues its education with the aim of educating graduates who have a command of basic sciences and professional knowledge, who are constantly learning, questioning and producing, and who have high social and environmental awareness in a way that emphasizes the fact that universities are institutions that are more than just providing vocational education. For this reason, the curriculum is designed in a flexible and updatable structure and is supported by extensive educational laboratories. In addition, it is enriched with courses such as history of civilization, engineering management, economics and programs created by the continuing education center within the university. In our institution, where the medium of instruction is English, students who do not have sufficient English proficiency are admitted to the faculty and start their course programs after they have acquired sufficient language skills at the Preparatory School. In addition to the course programs, they are also offered the opportunity to learn many foreign languages (French, German, Russian, Arabic, Italian, etc.). Our university is in cooperation with many international institutions providing engineering education, and in line with these agreements, successful students can continue their education in Europe (Erasmus programs) and other countries (exchange programs) for one or two semesters.
A significant portion of the students who come to our faculty every year through the central selection exam are on scholarship. Our students also benefit from the financial support offered by the university at various levels.
Our departments, which have been audited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK) and whose competence has been approved for the second time for five years, have the EUR-ACE quality label until 2019. This certificate of competence, which is also recognized by the Washington Accord, is a proof of the international approval of our education quality. The existence of graduate programs in our departments, the rich facilities offered by education and research laboratories, the transformation of the qualified scientific studies of our faculty members into solution and product-oriented projects and patents, the reflection of these studies on graduate studies, and the success of our graduates at the international level are other proofs of the scientific competence of Yeditepe University Faculty of Engineering.
