Course Objectives: 
This course aims to provide a basic understanding of the use of geotechnical concepts in the design and analysis of environmental systems, to teach the fundamentals of remediation of contaminated sites, waste containment facilities, geosynthetics and environmentally friendly soil improvement technologies.
Course Content: 

Geotechnical aspects of waste containment, contaminant transport in the subsurface, engineering properties of compacted soil and wastes, geosynthetics in environmental geotechnics, synthetic polymers and biopolymers in soil improvement technology, energy piles, design of waste containment facilities
