Assoc. Prof. Hakkı Özhan graduated from Civil Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University. Then, he got his Master’s degree from Bogazici University. He completed experimental work of his thesis study by performing in-situ tests on prestressed ground anchors at Brandenburg Technical University, Germany. He got his PhD in Civil Engineering from Bogazici University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Erol Guler. During his PhD study, he focused on the internal erosion of geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) and the hydraulic performance of the GCLs at high hydraulic heads. He worked as a research and teaching assistant for almost 6 years at Bogazici University. Meanwhile, he also took part in various geotechnical projects as a researcher. Between 2012 and 2019, he worked as an Asst. Prof. in Civil Engineering Department of Altinbas University, Istanbul. Throughout these years (2014-2017), he completed “TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Project” with the title of “Effects of Waste Water Temperature on the Hydraulic Performance of Polymer Treated and Untreated Geosynthetic Clay Liners”. His fields of interests in research are geosynthetics, geosynthetic clay liners, usage of geosynthetics in waste containment facilities, polymer-enhanced soils, biopolymers in geotechnical engineering, environmental geotechnics and soil improvement techniques. Since 2019, he has been working as an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Department of Yeditepe University
