Dr. Köylüoğlu received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Boğaziçi University, in 1988, 1990 and 1995, respectively. She worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Cornell University, US, during her Ph.D. studies under the scholarship of Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (NATO-A2 Scientist Programme Fellow) in 1993, working on non-linear analysis of thin-walled steel members. During her academic studies she served as Researh Assistant in Boğaziçi University, teaching problem sessions in statics, mechanics and strucural steel design. After graduation she worked in the industry, first as a design engineer and later in research and development department of a leading construction firm doing research on new technologies such as high-strength concrete, shield tunneling method and interlocking masonry construction. Later she worked on project management of various office and educational buildings and data center projects in a finance institution. She also carried out project management of a mixed-use international project working with leading international consultants and designers. She also studied Executive M.BA. in Boğaziçi University in 2006. She received Golden Beam - Scientific Study Prize of Prefabrication Union of Turkey in 1996. She also received Real Estate Appraiser Certificate of Capital Markets Board of Turkey in 2006 and took the exams of Appraisal Institute of US, the same year. She was member of the Istanbul International Finance Center Project, Infrastructure Committee of State Planning Department between 2010-2012. She joined Yeditepe University in 2014 as faculty member and has been teaching on construction management, sustainable construction and mechanics of materials. Her current areas of interest include sustainable buildings, project management, construction management and real estate appraisal.
