Course Objectives: 
The goal of this course is to give the basic information about the earth crust, faults, earthquake formations, Turkey’s earthquake zones, rock and mineral formations and the basic geological concepts and structures to the students.
Course Content: 

Earth sciences and its concepts. Formation of the earth’s crust, plate tectonics, Turkey’s geological evolution, Turkey’s crust structure, general description of rocks, rock types, evolution and differentiation of rocks, minerals, economic value of some minerals, formation of earthquakes, faults, Turkey’s earthquake zones, sysmic record equipments, displacement, velocity and acceleration records, basic soil description, soil parameters, soil profile and classification, interaction of structures with the soil, soil behavior under the effect of groundwater and surface water, interpretation of geological maps.
