Course Objectives:
Composite structures is a new development for the construction industry, and nowadays, steel concrete composite constructions are being applied in various structural systems. These constructions have many advantages over traditional reinforced concrete and steel structures from the superior developing residues of both materials. The goal of this course is to provide students the necessary background information for composite buildings and their properties, as well as teaching them design of steel concrete composite structural members according to releated standards.

Introduction; historical background, properties, advantages and material of composite buildings; sheasr connectors; general design rules; codes; Design of composite slabs, beams, coloumns and connections; ultimate limit state; serviceability limit state; fire design; application examples
