Course Objectives:

The goal of this course is to teach the students how to apply the soil mechanics principles and engineering behavior of soils, that they have learned in Soil Mechanics course, to the foundation engineering with new topics on design of deep foundations.

Course Content:

Introduction to deep foundations, Types of deep foundations and their applications, Axial load capacity based on static load tests, Axial load capacity of piles based on analytic methods, Axial load capacity of drilled shafts based on analytic methods, Lateral load capacity of deep foundations.
