Dr. Eren Vuran graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering in 2006. He completed his M.Sc. studies in the field of Earthquake Engineering with full scholarship at Università degli Studi di Pavia, The Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori di Pavia in 2007. He started his Ph.D. studies at Boğaziçi University, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Department of Earthquake Engineering in 2008. In the first couple of years of Ph.D. studies, he worked as a structural design engineer at OSM Engineering and Consulting Ltd., and during the last four years, he worked as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Earthquake Engineering. During this period, he was involved in European Union framework programme projects related with post-earthquake loss assessment and earthquake consequence database formation, and worked as teaching assistant for M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses of Prof. M. Nuray Aydınoğlu. He completed his Ph.D. studies in 2014 with a thesis work under the supervision of Prof. M. Nuray Aydınoğlu, putting a practice-oriented methodology for preliminary design of coupled core wall systems of tall buildings. Between 2014 – 2018, he worked as a senior structural design engineer at Balkar Engineering and Consulting Inc. with full responsibility of project coordination. At the same time, he has given a course for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures at Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Department of Earthquake Engineering and he still gives this course in the same department. He has started to work as an Assistant Professor at Yeditepe University, Department of Civil Engineering in 2018. His effort for building bridges between research and practicing engineering continues with the training courses on seismic response of structures and consultancy service for miscellaneous structural design projects. Nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete members, nonlinear modelling and analysis of reinforced concrete structures, performance-based design and assessment methodologies are the main streams to his research.
