Course Objectives:

Co-requisite GBE 212 The major goals in this course are to ensure that the students gain basic genetics and molecular biology background at a practical level, that they have the capability to design and carry out experiments in genetics and bioengineering fields and thus to provide effective solutions to questions and problems that they may face in the future.

Course Content:

The course provides the concepts of Mendelian Genetics, Sex Linkage and Crossing Over, Polytene Chromosome, Isolation of DNA and Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, PCR, Real Time PCR, Total RNA Isolation, DNA Sequencing and Chromosome Analysis.
