Dr. Günseli Erdem Altın received her bachelor's in Geological (Hydrogeological) Engineering from Hacettepe University in Ankara. Later, she graduated from the joint master's program in hydrogeology between the University of Poitiers (France) and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (Turkey). She completed this program under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bedri Kurtuluş and Prof. Dr. Moumtaz Razack. She also received her doctorate degree under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bedri Kurtuluş and Prof. Dr. Moumtaz Razack. She was a visiting research fellow for one year at the University of Poitiers during her PhD. She received two different scholarships from the French Embassy in Turkey as part of her doctorate and joint master's program. She carried out her PhD within the scope of the European Union ERANETMED project “GRECPIMA”. She took part in this project for 4 years as part of a team of 15 great researchers. Apart from this project, she worked as a researcher in 3 different research projects. One of them is "Evaluation of Gökova Karst Aquifer System by Hydrogeochemical and Isotopic Analysis", which is also the subject of her doctoral thesis. In this study Muğla-Gökova karst coastal aquifer and various karst waters with various contents were modeled. Another research project she worked on involved the hydrochemical assessment of a geothermal resource near Yatağan in southwestern Turkey. For this project, the (unstable) isotopes of both water and gas were studied and the potential of the source was evaluated. The other project was about seasonal stable isotope changes for near-sea water resources of Azmak in southwestern Turkey. In this study, the water mix, salty water inflow and recharge status of the springs were evaluated. This study was presented as a poster at an international meeting. A minor study on a doctoral thesis was published in Water Journal in 2020. In addition, 5 studies related to the parts within the scope of the doctoral thesis were presented at an international scientific meeting. She published 2 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and 1 research article in a SCIE journal. She has also presented 15 papers in national and international scientific meetings. She has been working as an Assistant Professor at Yeditepe University Civil Engineering Department since February 2023. Her research interests include hydrogeochemistry, karst hydrogeology, isotope hydrogeology, structural geology, remote sensing and hydrogeological modelling, environmental hydrogeology and UAV applications in earth sciences.
