Course Objectives: 
In this course, students will be introduced to fundamentals of metallic materials with special emphasis on ferrous alloys. The nature of bonds and crystal structures of metals will be visited. Crystallographic nature of alloying additions together with the concept of phase and phase transformations in binary alloys will be studied. The microstructure property relationship and failure analyses in steels and cast iron will be introduced.
Course Content: 

Theory and practical examples of industry standard processes utilised in designing, manufacturing and testing of advanced metallic alloys commonly used in engineering applications.
