Course Objectives:
To ensure that students gain knowledge about basic biology and evolution, with a history of life on earth and an overview of all forms of life. Principles of molecular, and transmission quantitative genetics as applied to plant biotechnology.
Course Content:
Overview of evolutionary biology and the Darwinian view; overview of evolution and main forms of prokaryotes, fungi, planta, and animalia; plant growth, signaling, and biotechnology; principals of animal physiology including tissue types and structure, nutrition, circulatory systems, gas exchange, immune system structure and function, endocrine systems and hormone signaling, and nervous system structure and functions.
