Course Objectives: 
The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of (i) electrochemistry, (ii) principles of operation of fuel cells and batteries, and (iii) the electrochemical aspects of aqueous corrosion of common engineering alloys.
Course Content: 

The course covers related electrochemistry for the first several weeks since without an understanding of it, the subsequent subject matter cannot be understood well. The content of the course can be summarized as follows: Overview of electrode processes; Electrochemical thermodynamics; Electrochemical reaction kinetics; Mass transfer; Laboratory demonstrations; Fuel cells; Batteries; Electrochemical principles of aqueous corrosion; Presentation by an invited speaker
