Course Objectives: 
The course aims to introduce the profession of chemical engineering and to provide students with knowledge and abilities to carry out fundamental engineering calculations, to express and calculate process variables related to chemical processes and to perform basic material balances.
Course Content: 

Definition of chemical engineering and responsibilities of a chemical engineer. Introduction to chemical engineering calculations. Processes, their classification and process variables. Understanding chemical processes via the flowsheets of operations and processes involved. Process examples from chemical industry. Material balance equation and its application to single unit processes at steady state.
