Course Objectives:
This course will provide insight into the medical imaging modalities that are routinely used to diagnose several diseases including cancer using advanced data acquisition, reconstruction and visualization methods.
Course Content:
The main contents of the course will be the data acquisition principles and reconstruction methods of X-ray radiography, mammography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear planar imaging, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). The parameters that would control the image quality, spatial resolution, contrast resolution, and radiation dose (in relevant modalities) will be discussed for all of these medical imaging modalities.
