Mission

Our mission is to educate and train mechanical engineers who have a firm understanding of modern engineering tools and methods, a solid foundation of relevant knowledge, ability for analytical thinking, diagnosing engineering problems, generating solutions and applying them, a solid notion of engineering ethics and responsibility, awareness of and ethical stance toward major issues such as environment, global climate change, hunger and human rights; to maintain close relations with national and international institutions of scientific knowledge and technology to enable our graduates to continue their personal development and career; to carry out R&D projects on contemporary and advanced topics and to generate knowledge and technology; to work toward a common goal of promoting joint R&D activities at the University; to contribute to national and global development via these activities.

Vision

Our vision is to become an engineering department respected at national and international levels, whose graduates are sought by industry and research institutions and which conducts R&D projects in close collaboration with national and international industrial and research organizations, generates knowledge, disseminates it and develops technology products.

Educational Objectives

  1. Develop capacity to develop high value-added products in small and medium-sized industrial enterprises.

  2. Be able to conduct research within the scope of master's and doctorate or more advanced research and development centers and universities all over the world.

  3. Be able to adapt to the changing needs of different sectors and business world and manage company transformation processes as a manager.

Strategies and Processes Used to Achieve Educational Objectives

  1. To review  the curriculum, the course content, and the manner in which the courses are taught, on average, once a year.

  2. To create an environment which encourages discussing the engineering issues in the department and learning, provide seminars from experienced people from industrial and research institutions, and organize industrial trips.

  3. To provide students access to computer hardware and to encourage learning of engineering software.

  4. Provide students with access to laboratory equipment and hardware.

  5. To encourage literature review, design and development projects, to produce simple models of mechanical systems.

  6. Make students give presentations in class.

  7. Encourage teamwork.

  8. Encourage students to engage in activities in the professional societies.

  9. Counseling and talking to students about the students, making them feel an important part of the Department.
