PROJECTS Design and Fabrication of a Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvester with Uniform Stress Distribution, funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), PI, Ongoing The aim is to increase the efficiency of piezoelectric-based cantilever beam type energy harvesters, by improving the stress distribution on the piezoelectric layer. Design of an active engine mount, funded by TUBITAK The aim is to design a fully controllable active engine mount that isolates engine vibration in automobiles. A solenoid actuator is used as the active part of the engine mount. Self-sufficient Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvester with Tunable Natural Frequency A piezoelectric energy harvester that automatically adjusts its natural frequency to stay in resonance with ambient vibration is designed and built. An efficient tuning algorithm is implemented on a low-power microcontroller unit. Design and Fabrication of an energy harvester for Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems A batteryless tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that generates its own energy from the rotation of wheel is designed and fabricated. The periodically changing radial distance between the rim and tire during wheel rotation is exploited to generate energy. Design and Fabrication of a Vibration-Powered Generator with Nonlinear Electrical Damping, funded by TUBITAK, PI A vibration energy harvester with nonlinear electrical damping is designed and built. The damping profile is determined experimentally by a unique experimental setup. Thermal Conductance Estimation for Microbolometer Pixel Proposed a new and efficient thermal conductance estimation method for uncooled microbolometer pixel. The results of the model are evaluated and verified with ANSYS simulations, for different pixel geometries. Prepared the masks for the test devices, using CoventorWare to be fabricated by PolyMUMPS. Thermal conductance measurement is made electrically under vacuum conditions.
