What is Electrical and Electronics Engineering?

Electrical and Electronics Engineering plays a leading role in the foundation and development of many technologies that have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. Although the introduction of smart  mobile phones, tablets and wearable technology products into our lives is extremely new, a life without them is almost unthinkable. In our department the students are educated and trained such a way that they easily adapt to the working environment of the academy, industry and other related institutions. They are very well equipped with basic mathematics and science concepts, can design/implement/test electrical systems, are prone to team and interdisciplinary work, can work at an international level, monitor technological innovations and can present them to the benefit of the society. Our most important asset in realizing these goals are: our experienced faculty members, effective laboratory and computer infrastructure to conduct current, dynamic and wide range educational programs and research. Our program consists of core and elective courses in the following disciplines of Electrical and Electronics Engineering:

  • Circuits and Systems,
  • Micro Electronics,
  • Communication,
  • Signal Processing,
  • Power and Energy,
  • Electromagnetic Fields and Waves
  • Control and Robotics

The first two years cover basic education in mathematics, physics, statistics and engineering including algorithms and programming for computers. The fundamentals of electrical and electronics engineering such as electrical and electronic circuits, electromagnetic fields and waves, and digital signal processing are also offered in the second year. The background in basic electrical and electronics engineering is completed in the third year: areas of study include, electrical and electronic circuits and systems, digital systems, communication systems, power and control systems, microprocessors and microcontrollers. Senior students prepare an engineering project using their creativity, knowledge, motivation and current technological advances. In the senior year, a wide range of advanced topics for specialization is also offered to the students as well as core courses on microwaves, antennas and propagation. Depending upon the choice of elective courses from the program, a graduate will be able to pursue a career in one of the specialization areas offered by the department or continue his/her education towards Master’s and/or PhD degrees. Undergraduate students are also given opportunities to be involved in research activities. They are able to work with faculty members and their research groups during their junior and senior years. We support and help to organize social and technical activities for our students in cooperation with our Career Office. We regularly invite speakers from industry to deliver speeches to our students whereby they can network and find out about what awaits them after graduation.
