To provide in depth knowledge and design ability for solar power systems and to understand wind energy systems
Course Content:
Overview of renewable energy systems. Introduction to solar and wind energy. Solar energy: Characteristics of Sunlight, solar cell technologies, semiconductors and p-n junctions, behavior of solar cells, cell properties and design, photovoltaic cell interconnection and module fabrication, stand-alone photovoltaic system components, stand-alone photovoltaic system design, specific purpose photovoltaic applications, grid-connected photovoltaic systems, grid-connected photovoltaic system design. Concentrated photovoltaic systems. Concentrated solar thermal systems. Wind energy: Fundamentals of wind energy, planning wind farms, managing of wind energy projects, grid connection of wind farms.
